The Leakey Collection
Zulugrass jewelry blossomed out of a severe drought that devastated Kenya’s pasturelands and impacted the livelihood of the Maasai that live there. Katy and Philip Leakey (from anthropology fame) found a solution by using the natural materials around them. They designed contemporary, eco-chic products and utilized the beading skills of their neighbors, the Maasai women. Since Zulugrass is made from glass and grass beads strung on elastic, it can be worn multiple ways.
